WHAT A DAY !!! We got off to a great start we had 60 players no last minute cancellations , morning tea provided , every group had someone to show the way to their starting spot, and away we went !! But the weather gods had other plans with thunder and lightening and rain !⛈️⛈️⚡️⛈️⛈️⛈️⚡️⛈️ when we were so close to finishing about half of the field soldiered on and the other half were sensible.

Our Open Day somehow was still a success despite the weather . Barry organised us a lovely lunch which everyone seemed to enjoy. We had plenty of prizes, NTPs long drives and raffles . A great effort from our committee and extra willing helpers who all worked together to make sure everything went smoothly, thankyou to everyone 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Winners today were Pauline Ryan and Dianne Hutchesson (Murwillumbah) with 72.5 . Runners up were Chris Mills and Sue Reguson ( Coolangatta/Tweed) 73.87 Second Runners up were Marilyn Berryman and Margaret Atwood (Coolangatta/Tweed) 74.37 there were 8 teams in the rundown . We had NTPs on the 2nd 7th and the 16 th all in two divisions with partners also given a ball. Long drives in two divisions and the Pro Pin also in two divisions. We also had several lucky draws for those players who didn’t finish.

Thanks to everyone for your help and participation. It was an eventful week , as we sadly had to say a final goodbye to our friend Dottie Gronn, the participation of so many golf members meant a lot to her family.

A nice simple single stableford coming up, then a pinehurst then our O BE day on the 19th of October.

We played a fourball this week and we had four teams on 43 points , so a complicated countback was done by our computer system thankfully. The Winners were Chris Mills and Lyn Simpson from Marilyn Berryman and Marilyn Brown.

Everything is organised for our Open / Invitation Day next week on the 28th so remember 7:30 for an 8 am hit off The draw is on the website , we still need one more player so if anyone can find another visitor , would be great !

Remember OBE day has changed from 5 th October to the 19 th October and all those players are already on the time sheet so when bookings open next Wednesday evening we need everyone to book in or the UBEs will be outnumbered🤣🤣🤣

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK : The winner of theGold Medal Playoff was Coral Rasmussen with a lovely73 nett!

The rest of the field played a single stableford the winner was Glenda Ballard with 40 points and the Runnerup was Peggy Williams with 39 points.

On Friday four players went to Murwillumbah to play off in the four ball vs par competition. Pat Hodda and Liz Edwards came third with +5 and Pauline Benny and Denise Melling were unlucky not to win anything with +4.

We played a Single Stableford on Thursday for our Jarrod Lyle fundraiser day. Prizes were donated by Barry and the Jarrod Lyle Foundation. We also raised $147 on the day !
RESULTS: 1st Maren Cooper 36 points, 2nd Helen Evans 36 points, 3rd Pauline Ryan 36 points, 4th Nancy Douglas 35 points.

This coming week is busy we have our Gold Medal Playoff with the rest of the field playing a single stableford. Also on the day we will be celebrating DAPHNE’s 90 th Birthday. So remember to “bring a plate”.
On Friday we have 4 players representing our club at Murwillumbah to playoff in the 4ball vs Par event. We wish them good golfing and an enjoyable day They are : Pat Hodda, Liz Edwards, Pauline Benny and Denise Melling.

Pensions are going up !! And so are our golf fees!!
From October our Annual Fees rise from $430 to $470 and our daily comp fees go from $16 to $17.

There is still room for more players for our Open/Invitation Day . If you have invited a guest we need their Golf link no and any special food requests!
After that it will be straight in to October and Xmas will be just around the corner!

GOLF JOURNEYS 4ball Aggregrate Day

We played a fourball aggregate on Thursday sponsored by Privanda Hawley and her son Mark Hawley from GOLF JOURNEYS .

The Winners were Alison Blair and Chris Mills with 68 points. The Runners up were Colleen Kelly and Glenda Ballard with 65 points.

Also on the day our Sponsors Golf Journeys had a special lucky draw of a golf holiday at the Hunter Valley which was won by Marilyn Berryman as a special one off tribute to Marks father / Privandas husband.

Our trophy donors were very generous and also gave trophies for a winner and Runnerup individual score these went to Kaye Mills and Marilyn Berryman.

Thanks to everyone involved it was a successful day! Barry looked after us well from start to finish Sending us of in the morning and then providing us with a lovely lunch. Rodger had the course ready for us , the lomandra trimmed and tees back on the markers and the greens running nicely and not so fast, despite having a few extra jobs to do after a bit of wind and hail!!

At last we had a nice warm day , light winds, no threat of rain and a fun game of golf , something to loosen us up ready for the more serious business of Foursomes next week.

We have a pretty busy calendar coming up :

17 th August: Foursomes Championships

24 th August : 4ball Aggregate- Golf Journeys Sponsored Day

31st August : 4ball stableford – Tombola Day

7th September :Single Stableford – Jarrod Lyle Day – wear Yellow.

This week we played a 2 person Ambrose , the winners were Alison Blair and her guest from Coolangatta/ Tweed Trudy Cox with a score of 69, Runners/up were Colleen Kelly and Chris Mills with 71.25. There were 6 teams in the rundown which went to 74.75.

NTPs were all open second shot, with a ball for both players. Winners were : 2nd Colleen Kelly and Chris Mills, 7 th Denise M Culpitt and Katrina Springfield. 16th Colleen Kelly and Chris Mills. Pro Pin was won by Alison Blair – $31.

We have amended the wording of the Conditions of play to clarify the hitting off order of play.

1. Order of play: Players are required to hit from alternate tees. Each team to choose who will hit off first , that person will continue to hit off all the odd tees for 18 holes, for the third nine play will start from the 10 th hole, which becomes the 19 th hole so you will continue to alternate odds and evens as before!
   The conditions of play have not changed. There is only one division as there has been for the last two previous Foursomes Championships.

It didn’t look too good early this morning but those who came out to play made the right choice , not a drop of rain all day, in fact the rain probably made the greens a little easier 🤣🤣🤣 .

Thursday 10 th August: 2 person Ambrose- Keno Day – $2.50 each to be eligible to advance to the next playoff event at Yamba if you want to be able to go to the next playoff make sure your partner wants to also!

Thursday 17 th August : Ladies Foursomes Championships 27 holes , 1 Division , book in as you like . Conditions of play are on the notice board.

Thursday 24 th August : 4 ball Aggregrate , All trophies donated by Mark Hawley from Golf Journeys and Privanda Hawley. Lots of prizes and a special lucky draw.

Thursday 31st August: 4 ball – Tombola Day

Thursday 7th September: Jarrod Lyle Day / Single Stableford

Thursday 14th September : Gold Medal Playoff with a Single Stableford for the rest of the field.

Thursday 21st : 4ball best ball.

Thursday 28th September: Canadian 2stroke, invitation/open day Shotgun start.
