Thursday Ladies Golf 28thJuly

What a great day we had today! Lovely weather , course drying out , a party with cake 🍰and lots of lovely ladies looking pretty in pink!👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚👚

Today we had our Pink Lady Day— a Team of 4 with 3 scores to count combined with a pink ball competition. We also celebrated Betty’s 96th birthday, with a photographer from Twin Towns to do a story to go in the Twin Towns News , and hopefully encourage a few more ladies to take up golf!

We had a fundraiser for Breast Cancer instead of our usual raffle and raised $400 which was a great effort— this money to go to the Cancer Care ward at Tweed Hospital (keeping it in our area).

Now to the golf : The winners of the Pink Ball competition with 38 points were Denise F Culpitt, Denise M Culpitt, Denise Melling and Marlene Whyatt.

The winners of the Team of Four best three scores to count were : Pat Hodda, Pauline Ryan, Peggy Williams and Kaye Mills with 115 points. Runners up were Marilyn Burns, Alison Blair, Judy Mount and Jeanette Fisk with 107 points.

NTP’s were Div 1 on 2nd Kaye Mills . Div 2 on 2nd Pauline Benny. Div 1 on 7th Kaye Mills. Div 2 on 7th Denise Melling. All four players in their team win a ball.

Pro Pin was won by Penny Martlew $37.

Trophy donors make our prize money go a lot further especially when we have a team of four! Thankyou to our trophy donors for today.

Thanks also to Kaye and Diane for their efforts on the computer they are very happy with the new system, but every new game we play has its own challenges. It did seem strange to each have a card for the team of four but the computer worked it all out and gets it right everytime!!

Next week 4th August we play our 6 th and last Monthly Medal! On the 11th August we will have another try for Myra’s favourite game 4ball vs Par. The next week 18th August we play our Foursomes Championships , there is a sheet up in the computer room so you can pick a time to play and see who is playing , the cost is $20 (pay on the day) this includes a lunch of gourmet sandwiches and chips and 27 holes of golf. Then it is fun time again on the 25th August with a fourball and our Tombola Day !

Thanks to you all for your support and help it was a wonderful day!!

Cheers from Liz and Myra

Thursday Ladies 14th July

Well we were so excited to have buggies on the course after that sudden rain on Tuesday night but what a day we had !!! It was one of the coldest days that I remember playing golf and so windy –playing golf was very difficult, and playing good golf was even harder !!

Twenty nine players made it to the end with one player pulling out when she got too cold to play, I’m sure people from southern , colder places would laugh at us!

Results for our 5th Monthly Medal are as follows:

Div 1: Medal Winner Denise Fay Culpitt with 73 Nett . Runner Up Kaye Mills with 77 Nett. Best Gross Kaye Mills with 90.

Div 2: Medal Winner Mary Swanson with 77 Nett on a c/b . Runner Up Lillian Simpson also with 77 nett. Best Gross Lillian Simpson with 104.

NTP’s: Div 1: 2nd Denise F Culpitt. 7th Kaye Mills. Div 2 :2nd Denise M Culpitt. 7th Denise Melling.

Putting: Div1: Alison Blair. Div2 Lilian Simpson .

Propin was won by Pauline Benny $30.

Rundown: Denise Melling, Doreen Rankine, Glenda Ballard, Pauline Benny, Nancy Douglas, June Mcfadden, Desley Harrington, Liz Edwards, Jeanette Fisk and Colleen Kelly.

Next week we will be playing Myra’s favourite game — a four ball vs Par!! This is a Northern Rivers District event so the best two pairs available to travel to Mullumbimby on Friday 16th September will qualify .

Nominations have opened for the Foursomes Championships to be held on the 18th August it will be 27 holes of golf, one division.

See you all next Thursday , or if you want some extra golf there is always Tuesdays and Sundays!!!

Thursday ladies Golf 30th June Captains/Presidents Day

Sorry about the delay writing this up, I have been wearing one of my other hats for the last 4 days – grandmother!!

So back to Golf ,we were so lucky to have such a lovely day on Thursday everything went according to plan , no rain, plenty of sun , the course was in great condition we had a good field I’m sure everyone had a good day. We had a free day , all you had to pay was one dollar for the Pro Pin and buy a drink. Barry provided us with a great lunch, Gourmet Sandwiches and hot chips, and the winners of each match won a ball also those who squared their game. All NTPs were also given out as balls on the day. There was a slight discrepancy in the scoring for the day, my fault I didn’t read the board properly and said that Myra’s team had won, when it was actually a draw!! So the trophy stays in Myra’s hands as her team won it last year!!

Thankyou to everyone for getting into the spirit of the day and getting dressed in your green and pink . Maybe next year we could expand on that and have a bit of a dressup theme!!

This Thursday we have our 5th Monthly Medal sorry I didnt get organised in time to tell Barry to set the sheet up in grades. Only one more to go in August!!

A few of our ladies have had Covid over the last few weeks so we wish them well. we have to keep up our covid safe practises and continue to follow the health recommendations for the good of all .

See you out there

We are still working hard to get our heads around the new computer system, Kaye and Dianne are putting a lot of effort in to mastering it. They will be happy to have a day off next Thursday as there will be no cards to be checked.

Next Thursday is our annual Captains vs President Day . It is a fun day so dont stress about it when you finish you only have to record on the white board which team won , no cards to hand in so just enjoy your day. it is a free day and lunch is included.

16 people in the rundown .
