Ocean Shores was the venue for Team 1 playing Byron Bay. Needing a victory to keep our final chance alive, unfortunately we were not able to do it, going down 4 1/2 to 2 1/2. Team Captain Allan Danks started well with a 4/3 win, and Brad Wilkinson had a tight win, 2/1. At that stage we were up 2-1. Michael Kemp squared his match but Byron Bay were too strong and ran out winners.
Team 2 traveled to Byron Bay and took on Ocean Shores. Also needing a victory to make the final, went down 4 1/2 to 2 1/2. Jared Brown started well with a great 4/2 win, Jared is now 2 for 2, keep it going. Michael Noakes picked up his first win, having a very impressive 6/4 victory. Simon Woolley returned to form, giving 3 shots, had a tough squared match.
Team 3 walked across the road and took on Lismore at Coolie-Tweed. After having a halved match last week a win was what we were after. About 5 hrs later we finished with another squared match, 3 1/2 to 3 1/2. Jim Storey played really good golf to win 4/3 followed by a solid 2/1 win to Charlie Huff. At that stage we were up 2/1, but after 2 losses it wasn’t looking good, then Nick Davis squared his match, now down 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 it all fell on Brendon Willoughby to get a win and keep our final chances alive, and win he did, storming home with a terrific 4/3 result.
Team 4 played Casino at Byron Bay. After a big win last week they followed that up with another big win 4 1/2 to 2 1/2. With that victory it puts us in the Final in 2 weeks. El President started the ball rolling with a very nice 3/2 win, that now takes Brent to 2 from 2. Wil Salter kept his perfect score with a great 4/3 victory, and first time player Michael Walsh started his campaign with a tightly contested squared match. At this stage the match was all square 2 1/2 to 2 1/2. Then up stepped Jim Wood who battled hard to earn a 2/1 win and Mark Jessop then put the icing on the cake with another solid 2/1 win.
Next week is the final round.
Team 1 plays Murwillumbah at Byron at 8.15am
Team 2 plays Ballina at Ocean Shores at 8.15am
Team 3 plays Mullumbimby at Lismore at 8.15am
Team 4 plays Lismore at Ocean Shores at 9am
