104 Members turned up for our Annual 2024 Xmas ambrose day. Shotgun start. The weather started off mostly fine but then turned into some late showers which made the last few holes refreshing. It’s always been a fun day and it really didn’t matter who won. It’s just about playing golf with your mates and having some cold beverages and a good meal and perhaps winning something in the raffle.
Winner Team: Grant (GD) Treloar, Wayne Muir, Mick Kempy, Patrick Tregellas with a score of 56.
Runners up: Wade Elphick, Kerrod Kirkham, Chugg, Geppert with a score of 58.
Now if you didn’t win anything in the raffle consider yourself very unlucky as we had about 80 prizes for 100 people. Free games, spirit’s, beers. Hats. Towels and woolies vouchers sponsored by the 3 Putt club.
A massive Thank you to Steve and Brad Wilkinson from Galileo’s pizza. Best pizza’s in town. Thanks for looking after us.
Thank you Barry, thanks for helping me while being in the role of Captain and Tim and Russ, as always very helpful and patient. Thanks for turning the island house into party arena.
Thank you Rodger and his team for getting the course to a playable condition despite the crazy rain and weather. Loving the greens at the moment and the maintenance done and some of the trees gone. Rodger your had a huge year with all the rain and course closures and trying to get course back to any playable condition. Its been mission impossible but you make it work everytime. Myself and the members thank you for all your teams efforts in 2024.
Lastly, A huge thank you to the Men’s Golf Committee. These guys work countless hours behind the scenes to make sure things run smoothly. Wayne Muir I would be lost without you. So a big thank you Wayne. Will Salter, the nicest bloke you will ever meet and everyone can agreed on that. Thanks Will. Your always the first one to put up your hand to help and your commitment to the club is unparalleled. Brent McLennan, thanks for being the voice of reason and running the committee. Michael Tink-Hornett, Thanks for all your advice and hope to have you back full time next year.
In my time as Mens Captain. I Would just like you say thank you to all the members for their patience and kindness since I’ve taken over. With alternative tee trials and index changes, adding of a par 5. I’ve tried to make the course a bit more exciting and challenging and with more future plans for early 2025. I’ll keep you all posted before the changes happen.
I wish you all a merry Christmas and happy new year and see all again in 2025.
Mens Capt.
Patrick Tregellas
