Golf Gossip

As I know not everyone is into blogging, tweeting etc…
2020 was a year of experiences – Wet, dry, fires, floods, border passes, COVID bubbles, golf, no golf; it’s a wonder we all survived.
Looking back, we have done very well. Our club is in a strong financial position for the 2021 season, our membership is holding to stable figures, the playing numbers are strong and the support we are receiving from members is great.
As you are probably aware, Twin Towns has extended all memberships by three (3) months to take in 2020/2021 renewals. Please check your
membership expiry date as TTSC is not sending reminder notices. The Golf Committee is concerned and is considering ways in which we can remind you.
With 2021 squarely in our face, I bring to your attention our AGM is scheduled for March the 20th and the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer will be up for election.
We currently have a great committee, working well together but unfortunately some of this committee are not standing for re-election. Therefore, you are encouraged to put on your volunteers’ hat and take up a position.
There will be a motion to alter the constitution put to the AGM, which
concerns the way our committee is elected. Year one (1) is President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer and year two (2) is Men’s Captain, Ladies Captain, Veteran’s Captain and Men’s and Ladies Representatives.
This is considered not good governance and the alteration proposes we mix the playing and executive committee positions in future elections. The Notice of Motion with a more detailed explanation will be found on the notice board.
The course is playing beautifully at present and I encourage all of us to help maintain it in that condition. Filling divots, repairing plug marks and raking bunkers all add up to better playing conditions. Don’t be scared to throw some sand on the tees if you notice wear and tear.
As we haven’t hit COVID over the fence yet, please maintain your vigil, follow the plan (on the notice board) and try to relax and enjoy yourself.
I hope 2021 is a lot more user friendly than was 2020.
Good golfing, cheers,
Brent McLennan (President)
