Joke of the day

The teacher was telling the kids, at a Banora Point school, about the birds and the bees and explained that when a man and a woman meet and fall in love, nine months later the stork usually brings them a little baby from its nest. Little Gemma, at the back of the class room, puts her hand up and said to the teacher, “Are you sure about the stork, miss? Because I think you’re getting your birds mixed up. My sister just had a baby and she said “It was from a shag on the beach at Coolangatta.”

MENS GOLF WEDNESDAY 14/9/22

Joke of the day

An elderly woman joins a Country Club and when she hears the guys talking about their golf round, she says, “I played on my college’s golf team. I was pretty good. Mind if I join you next week?” No one wants to say “Yes”, but they are on the spot. Finally, one man says,”Okay, but we start at 6.30 am.” He figures the early tee time will discourage her. The elderly woman says this my be a problem and asks if she can be up to 15 minutes late. They roll their eyes, but say “Okay. She’s there at 6.30 sharp, and beats all of them with an eye-opening 2 under par round. She’s fun and pleasant and the guys are impressed. They congratulate her and invite her back next week. She smiles, and says, “I’ll be there at 6.30 or 6.45.” The next week she again shows up at 6.30 sharp. Only this time she plays left handed. The three guys are incredulous as she still beats them with an even par round, despite playing with her left hand clubs. They are totally amazed. They can’t figure her out. She a very pleasant and gracious winner. They invite her back again, but each man harbours a burning desire to beat her. The third week , she’s 15 minutes late, which irritates the guys. This week she plays right handed and narrowly beats all three of them. The men grumble that her late arrival is petty gamesmanship on her part. However she’s so charming and complimentary of their strong play, they can’t hold a grudge. The woman is a riddle, no one can figure out. They have a couple of beers in the Clubhouse and finally, one of the men asks her. “How do you decide if you’re going to play right handed or left handed?” The old lady blushes and grins. When my Dad taught me to play golf, I learned I was ambidextrous,” she replies . I like to switch back and forth. When I got married after college, I discovered Hoddy always sleeps in the nude. From then on, I developed a silly habit. Right before I leave in the morning for golf practice, I pull the covers off him. “If his Willie points to the right, I golf right handed, if it points to the left, I golf left handed.” The guys think this is hysterical. Astonished at this bizarre information, one of the guys says, “What if it’s pointing straight up?” She say’s, “Then I’m fifteen minutes late.”

“Hey, George, did you hear the news about John?” The two golfers were talking over a drink in the Clubhouse. “No what happened to him?” “Well he had a great round on Wednesday — under seventy I heard —- anyway he finished early and drove home, and found his wife in bed with another man! No questions asked ….. he just shot ’em both! Isn’t it terrible?” “Could have been worse,” George commented. “How?” “If he’d finished early on Tuesday, he would have shot me!”

MENS GOLF WEDNESDAY 7/9/22

We got through the day without any rain, but still a bit breezy.

When going from the 7th green and 16th tee, don’t take your Golf cart or Scooter between the mounds and the Green up the left hand side of the 16th fairway as you are wearing out a track and we will have big bare patches in no time. As before the 16th green was reopened, go right the way around the green and come up to the green from the right side or go around and come from the back of the green.

The Championship is now going to be played on Saturday September 10, 17,24 and October 8. I did not realise that the October 1 weekend was a long weekend. So this Saturday and October 8 will be also Monthly Medal days.

Saturday September 17 we will have our Jared Lyle day. Please wear a yellow shirt and buy some raffle numbers at $2 a box , as all money taken will be donated to the Jared Lyle Cancer Research. And there will also be a donation jar.

Today’s event was a Aggregate Stableford and we had 81players.

Winners Dan Banks and Bob McElveney with 76pts.

Runnerup John Mason and Pat Hayes with 70pts.

Ball rundown went to 65pts.

NTP’S Division 1. 2nd Shane Vanderlight. 7th Alan Simpson. 12th Stuart Irving. 16th Pat Hayes

Division 2. 2nd David Kammer. 7th Ross Telfer. 12th Mark Jessop. 16th Perc Dempsey.

PRO PIN Perc Dempsey $70.00

Raffle Winners were Ross Telfer $25, Robert Duncan $25, Perc Dempsey $25, Shane Vanderlight $25.

Joke of the day.

The argumentative drunk in the club bar had been looking for a fight all afternoon since losing his match. Finally he threw a punch at the player on the nearest bar stool. He ducked and the drunk, losing balance, fell off his stool and onto the floor. By the time he’d disentangled himself from the bar stools and dusted himself off, his opponent had left. “D’ya see that, barman?” He complained. “Not much of a fighter was he?” “Not much of a driver either, sir. He’s just driven over your clubs,” said the barman gazing out the window.

MENS GOLF SATURDAY 27/8/22

Another nice day for golf. Some good scores were recorded today. Everyone must be getting ready for next Saturday, Day 1 of our Championship.

Very nice to see the 16th hole back in play. I heard their is a rush on sand wedges from the Golf stores, with the amount of top dressing being put on the course, everyone has worn theirs out.

We are still having issues with players putting their scores in. When you scan your card, wait to see if the computer agrees with what you have had, (you might have put a cross on the wrong line) if not press edit and correct the mistake, then press save.

We had 5 Visitors playing with us today and they came from Coolie-Tweed (2), Mur-Bah, Howlong GC, Wollongong GC, hope they enjoyed their round.
