Today Simon Woolley and John Olsen battled it out for the Men’s Matchplay Championship. Simon had to give John 6 Shots based on handicap differences. John Won the first hole and then Simon clawed it back to be 3 up thru 9 holes. John made a late come back, to get it back to all even on the 12th hole. Simon started to apply the pressure with some down the middle drives and great approach shots to see him push out to 3up, with Simon being 3 up with 3 to play. On the 16th Par 3, Simon managed a strategic worm burner that skipped across the grass and up the grass bunker to land about 2m away from the pin, while John Was over by the OB fence. Simon got the par and took the victory 4 & 2
Congratulations Simon. You have played very consistently thru the matches and you have a impressive short game. It was a pleasure playing against you and watching you win the final. A well deserving winner. $100 Prize
Congratulations also to John Olsen for the Runner up prize. John beat some tough opponents to get into the final. Very unlucky not to beat Simon. Matchplay is all about pressure and making the best of your opportunities. You had a few unlucky bouces. $50 Prize
The match was played in good spirits and was a good day had by all. Thank you Gentlemen.
