The Twin Towns Board advised until last year the State Government’s ClubGRANTS scheme, that allows the club to apportion a percentage of our gaming taxes to local sporting infrastructure amongst other things, enabled Twin Towns to largely offset the losses by funding golf with gaming  tax attributable to Twin Towns gaming. Unfortunately Twin Towns havnt been able to secure that funding.

Please see the above increases and if your membership is due before the 1st October it would be a good idea to pay that early and save some money.

WED Men’s Single Stableford 27/8

It was good to be back on the course again, full credit to Brendon and his crew working incredibly hard to get the course back to its best. Thank you so much for all the work you do. It was pretty hard going out there today with wind. I will make special mention of a Golfer I played with today. It was on the 6th Hole, bit of a tail wind behind us and Michael Tink-Hornett smokes his driver 298m off the tee to just before the front left hand side bunker. Michael’s second shot was a perfect low chip n run shot which landed perfect and then rolled into the hole for Eagle. 4 pointer! Well played Tink, showing some good form going into the championships.

Div 1 : Winner: Graeme Veivers (18) with 38 points. Runner up was Michael Tink-Hornett (7) with 36 Points.

Div 2 : Winner: Ken Walker (22) with 38 points. Runner up by count back was Timothy Pooley (32) with 38 points.

Ball run down went to 34 all in.

Pro Pin: Kyle Harrison $78

2nd: Ray Mills, David Harrod.

7th: Kim Hall, Kwok Alexander.

11th: Nick Davis

12th: Kyle Harrison, Martin Dobney.

16th: Michael Greening, Nick Davis

Raffle: Mark Jessop $75, Walter Fisk $25, Ray Mills $25

Just a friendly reminder to the morning players and all players really, please keep the pace of play. please ensure the group in front of you is not out of sight or fairways in front of you. It’s the responsibility of the lowest marker of the group to keep the group moving and not fall behind. It’s happening more and more that the afternoon field is teeing off 20 to 40mins later than there allocated tee time. This causes a ripple effect for all afternoon players, Wayne and Myself at the end of the day with finalizing results. The last thing I want to be doing is handing out warnings or incurring 2 stroke penalty shots. Next month being our Men’s Championship consisting of 4 rounds. It would be great if everyone was just aware of slow play and ready golf. Thanks

Course Conditions & Information

Please refer to the below rules and definitions, with the course taking a beating with the on going rain and course conditions the below have been in place for some time and will always be enforced after weather event. Altho there is no signage out on course roped off areas. The roped off areas will always be a GUR status. Meaning please dont drive carts thru this area. The green staff are doing an amazing job to preserve the course and minimise damage.

G.U.R (GROUND UNDER REPAIR)

All roped off areas and areas with a white spray painted line around it on the course is classed as GUR (ground under repair)

You are not premitted to drive thru it. Players can either play the ball as it lies or take free relief, which involves dropping the ball within one club-length of the nearest point of complete relief, not nearer the hole.

If a ball is in GUR and also in casual water, the player can choose to take relief from either condition or both. If unsure, check with your maker who is scoring your card.

PREFERRED LIE

Purpose: Preferred lies are designed to allow for fair play when course conditions make it difficult to play the ball as it lies.

How it works: When a player’s ball lies in the “general area” (fairway, rough, etc.) and the club has implemented the local rule, the player can take advantage of preferred lies.

Procedure: Mark the ball’s position with a tee or similar object.

Lift the ball and clean it. Place the ball within the specified distance 1 card length of the original spot, not nearer the hole.

Key points: The ball must be placed within the defined relief area 1 score card length.

The relief area must be in the general area, not in a hazard or on the putting green.

Once placed, the ball is in play and cannot be moved again, even if the player is unhappy with the new position.

Consequences of improper use: If a player lifts their ball without marking it, or moves it improperly, they may incur a penalty stroke

MEDLEY TRIAL SATURDAY 23RD AUGUST

Medley Trial – Saturday August 23rd

Golf is changing worldwide and so are a lot of the ways we play the game we love. Almost every club in NSW and QLD are playing medley events in their daily program.

A medley golf competition is a format where men and women can compete together, often using different tees and handicap adjustments to account for the difference in playing difficulty. We will be playing a Single Stableford with 2 divisions (+2 to 18 & 19 to 46) The nearest to the pins will be set to divisions.

The aim of this trial is to encourage new members to our club, both male and female and allow Women who can’t make the mid-week comps a chance to play and be handicapped and to also fill those empty groups in the field.

The plan is to trial this Medley once a month to see how it goes and then make the call to see if it becomes a more common event in our program.
