Men’s 9/5/26 S/Stab

After two long weeks of rain, the skies finally cleared, the course dried out, and Club Banora golfers could get back to what they love most—hitting the fairways! There was a real sense of excitement in the air as players dusted off their clubs, stretched out those rusty swings, and enjoyed a beautiful day of golf. The sun, the laughter, shanks, lost balls and the friendly competition all came together perfectly, making this Saturday one to remember.

Winners with HC by Division

Division 1:
James Walle emerged victorious with a score of 42 points, showing remarkable consistency across the course. Wade Elphick took the runner-up spot with 39 points, demonstrating a strong challenge throughout the round. Both players’ handicaps played a key role in keeping the competition tight and exciting.

Division 2:

Course Update 5th May – Carts on

Golf Competition will resume starting Wednesday 6th May – Motorised scooters and carts permitted on course. Its important that everyone is aware of the course conditions and abide by the rules. The grounds staff have worked hard to get the course back to a playable condition and with the allowance of carts on course. I cant express just how much effort Brendon and the Boys have put in to get the course back up and ready for competition.

Please keep note of the following.

Preferred Lies and ALL BUNKERS are GUR

ALL CARTS MUST BE KEPT ON FAIRWAYS AND PATHS – 🚓NO EXCEPTIONS!🚓

PLEASE AVOID ALL WET AREA’S

The 18th Hole is out of play. You will play the 9th hole twice from the normal tee boxes

The fairways on the 6th, 9th, 16th, 18th have not been mowed due it still being a bit wet under foot – these will be mowed when it can be done without causing damage to the course.

The Ladies Monthly Medal – This will proceed on Thursday – Some changes to course may be fixed by then – Grounds Staff to advise Wednesday afternoon.

Thank you for all your patience. I know many of you are having golf withdrawals. My only request of each member is that you all look after the course when your playing your round.

Course Info / Golf Program Changes

Due to recent weather conditions, the course will be closed to golf carts until May 6th. Ongoing rainfall has left the grounds quite saturated, and water is not draining away as efficiently as we would like. This temporary measure is necessary to protect the course and maintain its quality for all players.

Our grounds staff will continue to closely monitor and assess conditions over the coming days, with a full review scheduled for next week. We will keep you updated on any changes and appreciate your understanding and cooperation in the meantime.

Men’s Saturday 2nd May – Walkers only Medley – 1 Division (Men’s Monthly Medal will be pushed back to 16th May)

Mixed Sunday 3rd May – Competition Cancelled.

Monday Vets – 4th Competition Cancelled.

Tuesday Ladies 5th – Competition cancelled.

Wednesday 6th May – Pending Approval for Carts. This will be confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

Course Info

While this weather hammers the course and the course is trying to drain that excess water away, the grounds staff are out on the course giving some much needed love to those over hanging tree’s. This week they are trimming back the trees on the right hand side of the fairway / rough and aim to trim the fig tree this week on the 1st / 10th hole. The plan over the next few weeks is that the ground staff will be cutting back a lot of those over hanging limbs. For those people who hit the fairway off the tee this will be good news and you shouldn’t be blocked off to the green while being on the fairway. Please be patient, the grounds staff will doing this over time and hole by hole.

You will also notice the new nearest to the pin (NTP) letter box’s on course. The old ones were in needed of replacing and will be installed this week. Please note the location of the 2nd / 11th NTP letter box will change. The new location will be behind the toilets on the path side. All other NTP letter boxes will remain in the same locations.

The hedges on the 9th tee block will be trimmed down as well as the Men’s 15th Tee block from the blue markers.

A big shoutout to Brandon and the Boys for being out there in the horrid conditions trying to bring back the course to a playable state and to get those carts back on course ASAP. Much appreciated Gents and thank you for your hard work.

Please keep checking the blogs for updates on course conditions and changes to competitions.

Pro Pin & Raffle Winners

  • Shane Vanderlight – $80 Voucher

Shane Vanderlight winning the Pro Pin on a Saturday is already unusual—but doing it on a day when the rough is “too long” for him to normally show up? That’s next level.

Rumour has it the only reason he played was because someone told him the Pro Pin was on a hole where you don’t have to go near the rough. One swing, straight at the flag, job done… and straight back to avoiding the long grass for another few months.

Broken Driver and shanks a plently
