Lovely to see a good field of ladies out on the course today doing battle with the little white ball and a howling wind! The scores indicated that there was plenty of run and wind assistance to be had if you could keep the ball on the fairways. Winners today with a score of 47 were Pauline Benny and Christine Waghorn from Liz Edwards and Fiona Almond with a score of 46. Well done ladies.

Rundown went to Colleen Kelly and Judy Mount 45 Pts; Denise F Culpitt and Marlene Wyatt 45 pts; Myra Biggar and Pauline Ryan 44 pts; Denise Melling and Denise M Culpitt 44 pts; Marilyn Berryman and Lyn Simpson 43 pts ;Maren Cooper and Nancy Douglas 42 pts and Diane Hughes and Helen Evan’s 42 pts.

Today we had our annual Tombola stall, thank you ladies for your generous donations of goodies. I’m sure everyone enjoyed selecting items from the table – everything you could think of was available from cakes to plants !!
Next week we will be playing from a temporary tee on the 1st and 10 th holes, please be careful moving onto the course as there will be a lot of work going on in this area. Ladies will still be playing the 1st and 10th as a Par 5. No eagles will be paid on these holes from the temporary tees.

1st and 10th Tee Changes: A Decision for Safety

Twin Towns has made the decision to change the location of the 1st and 10th tees due to ongoing safety concerns involving golf balls striking nearby homes.

For some time, residents in these houses have faced the risk of golf balls being hit onto their properties. This has raised legitimate concerns about the safety of residents, visitors and the homes themselves.

The tee changes are intended to reduce the risk of golf balls being hit towards residential properties and create a safer environment for everyone.

While changes to the course may take some adjustment for golfers, safety must remain a priority. Twin Towns believes these changes are a necessary step to address the ongoing issue and help protect the surrounding homes and residents.

We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all members and golfers as these changes are introduced.

The Board have met to determine the playing and membership fees effective from 1 October and in doing so have also considered your email below.

We certainly understand that costs of living are a burden for most of the community at this time, and the cost of business increases are also significant, and that combined with government rules restricting our ability to support the golf course from ClubGrant funding, the cost burden of the golf course is significantly greater and as a result price increases must reflect the cost of business.  Please note, that although prices will increase significantly again this year, the golf course continues to be a significant loss operation and is continuing to be supported by the Club with a significant subsidy.

The new golf fees, effective 1 October 2026, have been determined as follows:

LADIES GOLD MEDAL PLAYOFF & SINGLE STABLEFORD EVENT 10/9/26

Today we played our Gold Medal event for the winners of the Medals played during the year.

We also played a Single Stableford for the rest of the field and the weather was absolutely awful!! The wind howled from the south and everynow and then threw in some freezing rain just to make sure we didnt get too comfortable!
However the weather did suit the winners of the two events with wonderful scores returned,

The winner of the Gold Medal was Marilyn Berryman with a fantastic score of 66 !.. According to Marilyn it was her Husbands driver that made all the difference ! Wonder if he’s missed it out of his golf bag yet !
Winner of the Stableford was Myra Bigger who played exceptional golf to return a score of 39 points. The close runnerup was Louise Carpenter, a regular Sunday player who joined us today for a game .Louise also scored 39 points.

Rundown was shared between the two comps and went to the following ladies from the stroke round – Pat Hodda 71, June McFadden 76,; and from stableford event Diane Hughes 38 pts, Peggy Williams 33pts; Nancy Douglas 33 pts.

⛳ New Local Rule — Holes 5 & 14

A Simple Change to Keep the Game Fair

There’s a new Local Rule to be aware of at Club Banora, and it applies specifically to the timber netting post positioned to the front left of the 5th and 14th tees.

The new rule is Local Rule E-11, and while it is very simple, it’s important that everyone understands exactly what happens if your ball comes into contact with the netting post.

🏌️ What Is Local Rule E-11?

Any ball that comes into contact with the timber netting post to the front left of tee #5 or tee #14 will require the shot to be replayed — with NO penalty.

In other words:

🎯 Hit the post = Replay the shot, no penalty!

There is no penalty stroke and no need to play the ball from where it finishes.

Simply replay the shot from the original location.

🤔 Why Is This Rule Needed?

The timber netting post is there for a practical reason, but it can create an unusual situation when a golf ball strikes it.

A ball hitting the post can produce an unpredictable result, potentially giving the player a significant advantage or disadvantage that has little to do with the quality of the golf shot itself.

Local Rule E-11 provides a straightforward and fair solution.

Rather than trying to determine what happened to the ball after the contact, the rule simply says:

Contact with the post = replay the shot.

And importantly, there is no penalty for doing so.

📍 Where Does the Rule Apply?

The rule applies to the timber netting post located:

  • To the front left of tee #5
  • To the front left of tee #14

It is specifically the timber netting post that triggers the rule.

So, if your ball comes into contact with that post, remember that Local Rule E-11 applies.

⚠️ What Should You Do?

If your ball strikes the timber netting post:

  1. Stop play on that ball.
  2. Confirm that the ball has contacted the relevant timber netting post.
  3. Return to the original location of the shot.
  4. Replay the shot.
  5. No penalty stroke is added.

It’s as simple as that.

Ladies Golf Results – Jarrod Lyle Charity Single Stableford – 3rd September.

The skies were blue, clouds were white and it blew a gale from the north west today for our Jarrod Lyle Fund raiser . The ladies were turned out in yellow brightening up the course and playing some great golf today. Plenty of run on the course and fast running greens suited quite a lot of our members with some of the best scores we’ve seen this year.

Our ladies raised $200 for the Jarrod Lyle Foundation, thanks so much for your generosity. Peggy Williams was the winner of the “ lolly bottle count “ with 83 being the correct number. Happy lolly eating Peggy !!

We dont have Eagles everyday on our course, especially not on the first hole but today Alison Blair put the third shot in the hole. Congratulations Alison and coming your way is an Eagles Badge and 6 balls at Presentation next week.

We welcomed back two members today, Thelma Roffy and back from England, Katherine Colsell who had a magic round scoring 44 points.

Runner up was Denise F Culpitt with a great 42 points. Well done ladies.

Get the yellow shirts out, find something bright and cheerful, and prepare your best “that was definitely the shot we were taking” excuse — it’s time for our Do It For Jarrod Lyle 4 Person Ambrose Medley! ⛳😂

This is a FREE DAY FOR MEMBERS ONLY, with an 8:00am shotgun start, plenty of prizes up for grabs and, most importantly, a chance for us all to get behind a fantastic cause.

After the golf, we’ll be enjoying pizzas from Galileo’s Pizza 🍕 and some light refreshments — because nothing helps you forget the four-footer you missed quite like beer & pizza!

💛 LET’S BREAK OUR FUNDRAISING RECORD!

This year, we’d love to smash our previous fundraising record for Jarod Lyle’s charity.

All proceeds from the raffle will be donated, and the more money we raise, the better — because our club also goes into the draw for the chance to WIN A GOLF CART! 🏌️‍♂️🚗

We’d also love everyone to throw in a gold coin donation before the commencement of play. The golf is free, there are loads of prizes to be won, so digging around in the car console for a gold coin shouldn’t hurt too much! 😂

So grab your team, wear yellow or something bright and cheery, bring a few dollars for the raffle and come along for a brilliant day of golf, laughs, pizza and fundraising.

Let’s fill the course, have some fun and see if Club Banora can set a new fundraising record this year.

I have sad news that our retired member Betty Kuskopf has recently passed away.

Betty was a long time member having played way back in the eighties and long into the 2000’s . She served on our Ladies Committee and was a long time Treasurer.

In later years Betty became a resident of Fairways Nursing home and earlier this year moved to Brisbane to be cared for by family.

Sadly Betty passed away earlier this month and we send our sincere condolences to her family. 🌹🌹
