LADIES GOLF – OBE DAY 1ST OCTOBER.

A lovely sunny day greeted us for our annual OBE day, a celebration of club members who still enjoy their golf over the magic age 80.!

Today 27 ladies , of which 17 were celebrated OBE’s, played a single stableford game on a perfect day for golf. The course has lots of run and the greens are running true. In my group a certain young lady who is well and truly over 80 played some beautiful golf and came in with the winning score of 44 points – needless to say she enjoyed the lovely playing conditions . The winner was our lovely Myra Biggar.💕

The OBE’s and the under 80’s made up the rest of the competition field and the winner was Kathryn Colsell, 40 pts, runner up Thelma Roffey 39 pts. Well done to all 3 ladies.

Blue skies, nothing but blue skies, well after a quick shower of rain at starting time, greeted our Ladies today, a lovely day to be out on the course.
26 Ladies made up the field with some good scores being recorded. The 1st/10th hole temporary tee is making the par 5 easy to play and I hear a lovely lady was on the 1st green in 2 today! Work is proceeding on the building of the new tee and it won’t be long before we will putting it to good use.
The Winners today with a score of 69 were Alison Blair and Viv Sulejmani , runners up were Maran Cooper and Nancy Douglas with 71. Well done ladies, good golfing on a lovely day!

Next week is our annual OBE Day – we celebrate our over 80’s, (not many of us are left under 80 ) You will have your own Competition with a winner from amongst the OBE’s and a nearest the pin on the 2nd hole just for you. Apart from the OBE winner all players will be in the usual competition. The usual pins are for all players.

After golf we will enjoy a tea/coffee, cold drink and cake provided by the Ladies Golf Club. OBE’s please wear a pink shirt if you have one .

The time sheet on the Web Site is open for our Club Championships to be run over 2 Thursdays 8th and 15th October, please get your names down and support the Club

Lovely to see a good field of ladies out on the course today doing battle with the little white ball and a howling wind! The scores indicated that there was plenty of run and wind assistance to be had if you could keep the ball on the fairways. Winners today with a score of 47 were Pauline Benny and Christine Waghorn from Liz Edwards and Fiona Almond with a score of 46. Well done ladies.

Rundown went to Colleen Kelly and Judy Mount 45 Pts; Denise F Culpitt and Marlene Wyatt 45 pts; Myra Biggar and Pauline Ryan 44 pts; Denise Melling and Denise M Culpitt 44 pts; Marilyn Berryman and Lyn Simpson 43 pts ;Maren Cooper and Nancy Douglas 42 pts and Diane Hughes and Helen Evan’s 42 pts.

Today we had our annual Tombola stall, thank you ladies for your generous donations of goodies. I’m sure everyone enjoyed selecting items from the table – everything you could think of was available from cakes to plants !!
Next week we will be playing from a temporary tee on the 1st and 10 th holes, please be careful moving onto the course as there will be a lot of work going on in this area. Ladies will still be playing the 1st and 10th as a Par 5. No eagles will be paid on these holes from the temporary tees.

LADIES GOLD MEDAL PLAYOFF & SINGLE STABLEFORD EVENT 10/9/26

Today we played our Gold Medal event for the winners of the Medals played during the year.

We also played a Single Stableford for the rest of the field and the weather was absolutely awful!! The wind howled from the south and everynow and then threw in some freezing rain just to make sure we didnt get too comfortable!
However the weather did suit the winners of the two events with wonderful scores returned,

The winner of the Gold Medal was Marilyn Berryman with a fantastic score of 66 !.. According to Marilyn it was her Husbands driver that made all the difference ! Wonder if he’s missed it out of his golf bag yet !
Winner of the Stableford was Myra Bigger who played exceptional golf to return a score of 39 points. The close runnerup was Louise Carpenter, a regular Sunday player who joined us today for a game .Louise also scored 39 points.

Rundown was shared between the two comps and went to the following ladies from the stroke round – Pat Hodda 71, June McFadden 76,; and from stableford event Diane Hughes 38 pts, Peggy Williams 33pts; Nancy Douglas 33 pts.

Ladies Golf Results – Jarrod Lyle Charity Single Stableford – 3rd September.

The skies were blue, clouds were white and it blew a gale from the north west today for our Jarrod Lyle Fund raiser . The ladies were turned out in yellow brightening up the course and playing some great golf today. Plenty of run on the course and fast running greens suited quite a lot of our members with some of the best scores we’ve seen this year.

Our ladies raised $200 for the Jarrod Lyle Foundation, thanks so much for your generosity. Peggy Williams was the winner of the “ lolly bottle count “ with 83 being the correct number. Happy lolly eating Peggy !!

We dont have Eagles everyday on our course, especially not on the first hole but today Alison Blair put the third shot in the hole. Congratulations Alison and coming your way is an Eagles Badge and 6 balls at Presentation next week.

We welcomed back two members today, Thelma Roffy and back from England, Katherine Colsell who had a magic round scoring 44 points.

Runner up was Denise F Culpitt with a great 42 points. Well done ladies.

Ladies Golf Results – Foursomes Championships 27th August.

Today under blue skies and NO rain we played our Foursome Championships

. After a couple of weeks delay because of the weather it was great to get another of our Annual events ticked off the list !

24 ladies made up the field who played 27 holes followed by a lovely lunch and presentation.

The Winners of the Club Championships were. – Alison Blair and Katrina Springfield 143 gross.
Runners Up were – Denise F Culpitt and June McFadden – 148

Nett Winners were Pat Hodda and Lyn Simpson 112.5;
Nett Runners Up – Liz Edwards and Pauline Ryan – 115.25

In the rundown winners of a ball were ;

I have sad news that our retired member Betty Kuskopf has recently passed away.

Betty was a long time member having played way back in the eighties and long into the 2000’s . She served on our Ladies Committee and was a long time Treasurer.

In later years Betty became a resident of Fairways Nursing home and earlier this year moved to Brisbane to be cared for by family.

Sadly Betty passed away earlier this month and we send our sincere condolences to her family. 🌹🌹

Ladies Results – 20th August. Single STABLEFORD.

Today 24 ladies played a Single Stableford. Overnight the course had received quite a heavy shower of rain and the lovely run we had last Thursday had disappeared and this was reflected in the scores returned. The greens were still running true and some great putts were made.

Winner today was Fiona Almond with a lovely score of 37 which included several 4 pointers and a 5 pointer on the 3rd hole. Well done

Runner Up was Helen Evans with 36 points, very creditable on the wet course.

LADIES GOLF Foursomes Championships

Ladies, it has been decided due to the weather we are experiencing and the uncertainty of Carts being on the course on Thursday and because of catering to transfer the Foursomes Championships to next Thursday, 27th August. We have transferred the field as it is set for this week to next week. No doubt there will be some members who cannot play next week, please take your name out and I will do my best to get a player for your partner.

This Thursday, 29th August will now be a single stableford if carts are allowed on the course. Please make your booking for this game as usual if you wish to okay.
