2ND RND MEN’S CHAMPS / DAILY STROKE 13/9

Round 2 done and dusted. Blessed with another weekend of sunshine and good conditions. Today we saw alot of incredibly low scores and players beating their all time best rounds, which is a credit to the amazing course that’s being prepared for us by Brendon and his team. We have a pretty packed tight leader board going into the 3rd round next week. Let’s all hope the weather stays great.

A Grade – Winner,Terry Foster (9) with an amazing score of 67. Terry blitzed the first 17 holes and just had some bad luck on the last approach shot in. Up and down all day and so many greens in regulation. It was a really enjoyable round to witness Terry. Runner up was Mr Consistent Micky Kemp (8) with 69. Golf must be boring, being that good huh ay Kempy. Still amazes me that you dont warm up and never practice.

B Grade – Winner, Joseph Lehkyj (14) with a 67, nice round Joseph, Runner up, Luke Hammond (17) with 69.

C Grade – Winner, Ken Culpitt (24) with an outstanding score and the game of his life shot a score of 64. A huge shout out to Ken and congratulations. Its Kens first time breaking 90. Amazing round of golf!. Runner up, Dave Callard (25) with a score of 65. Sorry Dave you must of thought you had it wrapped up and in the bag with that score. Another outstanding round of golf. Well played Gents.

Mens Pennants / Eisenhower Cup

As we all know the 2025 pennant series was washed out again. We will be running an Eisenhower Cup event on the 26th October, a one day event where the pennant flags will be awarded to the winners.

The event will see all club teams, except division 1, of 7 players, compete against the other 3 teams in their division at the same venue. The format will be the best 5 of 7 Stapleford scores for each team to count, the team with the highest total will take home the pennant flag.

The number of players will be lower than earlier in the year as I know many like the match play experience. Players will still be able to play in a team environment with their mates, as well as a neutral venue, and in a competitive event.

You can have more or less teams than earlier more depending on player availability.

The nomination sheets will be on the notice board behind the score card entry computers. Please write your name and details. Once I have the entries, I will allocate teams into divisions. Most matches will start at 8.00am playing in mixed groups of 4 but a couple may be at 10.00am due to course availability.

Nominations must be received no later than Tuesday the 30th September, earlier much appreciated. This way a draw will be done with 3 weeks notice to host clubs and players can plan carts.

If you have any questions. Please email me on golfcommittee@twintowns.com.au

For those players not playing who originally signed up. It would be appreciated if you could return your shirt thanks.

The Twin Towns Board advised until last year the State Government’s ClubGRANTS scheme, that allows the club to apportion a percentage of our gaming taxes to local sporting infrastructure amongst other things, enabled Twin Towns to largely offset the losses by funding golf with gaming  tax attributable to Twin Towns gaming. Unfortunately Twin Towns havnt been able to secure that funding.

Please see the above increases and if your membership is due before the 1st October it would be a good idea to pay that early and save some money.

2025 Mixed Foursomes Championship Results

The brave souls who competed in Club Banora Foursomes Championship were greeted with a beautiful sunny day and a good dose of gusty winds. The greenkeepers had the course looking amazing after all our recent rain and made us work hard around the greens with some tricky pin placements. The competition was stiff and the scores were close. Our reigning Gross winners and runners-up from 2024 have held on to their respective trophies once again. And Brian Springfield must be feeling lucky having won Net Winner again although with a new partner (his wife) for 2025.
