NTP 7th Open shot. Liz Edwards 16th Cheryl Kelly ( 2 balls each)Pro Pin went to a lovely shot by Pat Hodda on 12 th hole. Lucky no. Was 51 and winners were Dianne Hughes, June McFadden, Viv Sulejmani and Pat Hodda – $20 on your card.

As advised at our Presentation today the game set down for March 18th has been changed to a Irish Fourball team of 4. (To celebrate St Paddy’s Day) This will be a free day, normal hit off times and following your game you will be treated to a BBQ lunch of sausages, onions, bread and tiny Irish taties in garlic and parsley butter. Get your team organised and think about something GREEN to wear.
Have a great week and I look forward to seeing everyone next week.

Men’s Golf Wednesday 27th January

What a great day for golf, weather was perfect, slight breeze, although it might have been a bit sticky if you walked on the day. We had a good field of 89 players

Scores for the day were quite good.

On a housekeeping matter, we have two matters we would like highlight,

  1. Whilst the fairways and teed have been in good condition, we are starting to see a number of divots not been filled in (most likely social players) so if you see any please fill in with sand, that would be appreciated and will maintain the course in good condition.
  2. We have been operating the daily raffles on an honour system, can you please take care with this as we have come up short on a couple of days. The money raised helps pay for days like last Saturday.

Now to the golf results, as mentioned we had a field of 89 players

Congratulations to our winners on the day;

Joke of the Week (thanks Ken Culpitt)

Father Norton woke up Sunday morning and realizing it was an exceptionally beautiful and sunny early spring day, decided he just had to play golf.

So… he told the Associate Pastor that he was feeling sick and persuaded him to say Mass for him that day.

As soon as the Associate Pastor left the room, Father Norton headed out of town to a golf course about forty miles away.

This way he knew he wouldn’t accidentally meet anyone he knew from his parish. Setting up on the first tee, he was alone. After all, it was Sunday morning and everyone else was in church!

At about this time, Saint Peter leaned over to the Lord while looking down from the heavens and exclaimed, “You’re not going to let him get away with this, are you?”

The Lord sighed, and said, “No, I guess not.”

Just then Father Norton hit the ball and it shot straight towards the pin, dropping just short of it, rolled up and fell into the hole.

IT WAS A 420 YARD HOLE IN ONE !!

St. Peter was astonished. He looked at the Lord and asked, “Why did you let him do that?”

The Lord smiled and replied, “Who’s he going to tell?”

Men’s Golf Saturday 16th January

We had 86 players on a warm humid day, the showers cleared before the first group teed off and it stayed clear for the rest of the field.

Please ensure that if you have a provisional NTP or Pro Pin that you mark the appropriate card, as we had a player that was eligible for the Pro Pin and between him and his playing partners, they did not mark the card and therefore he did not win, in a very sportsman act the last name on the Pro-pin Mick Kemp shared his winners. This is a great example of why we have a great club…..Well done Mick

Joke of the Day

A well off 45-year-old man wanted to join a regular foursome and after waiting two years he finally got his chance, he’d made it and was now to meet his three, new best friends. The discussion was brief as there were few rules governing this group.

1.] They talked betting and he did not care about the costs;

2.] There was a 7 AM / 7 days a week tee time and could he make that rigid a schedule? His answer was yes, no problem, but occasionally I will be 20 – 30 minutes late, he was told as high as the wagering was, he’d be better off staying home.

They played a quick 18 and the newbie shot 2 over par. Broke a little above even, money-wise.

The next day he shot -1, but on this day, he played left-handed, where yesterday he played right-handed. The group had questions for the newbie.

“You’re about even on any side you play off and the difference in the two scores is probably due to feeling the course out.” “My real question is how do you decide which way you will play?” The newbie told them, “I go through my usual crap, shower and shave.” “Then I go to my bedroom closet and open it, viewing both club sets.” “Then I look at Naomi and if she’s on her left side, I shoot lefty; if she’s on her right, then that’s the way I’ll play.” Another player asks, “What if she on neither side?” He says, “Oh, that’s the occasion I’ll be 20 to 30 minutes late!”

Ladies Golf Results

Our “warm up” game today attracted 35 ladies who played a 2 person Ambrose. Great scores were returned by the players on their return to golf after the Christmas break.
Winners were Kaye Mills and Pauline Ryan 68 1/4 from Liz Edwards and Judy Mount 71 1/4. Rundown to 75.
NTP 2nd and 7th won by Pauline Ryan. Pro Pin won by Janet Haddrick $35, lovely start to the year.

Lucky number was 15 and winners were Liz Edwards, Colleen Kelly, Fran Janes – $20 on your cards.

We are all adjusting to new check in requirements and today we had to handle the raffle “self serve“. In future one of your c’ttee ladies will take the raffle money until she hits off and then for later players, raffle no.s may be purchased after your game.
I hope everyone enjoyed the service and food in the Island House, Barry and Rhys did a great job on their first day, lovely to see everyone enjoying being back “home.”

Lets start the year off by remembering to keep up with the people in front of you whilst on the course both on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We hit off at 6 minute intervals so to lose over an hour completing your round is unacceptable. Please do your best to keep up with the players in front of you.
Advice has been received that our AGM will take place on Saturday 20th March in the Island House. Please offer to stand for vacant positions on the Management Committee to keep our wonderful Club going.
