Never let it be said that the morning players always get the better conditions as today it was very average for the morning field. 15 members pulled the pin during the round (myself included) with a few brave souls battling on to finish the round. Next weeks comp is a Single Stableford.

Hit it hard and hope the club doesn’t slip mid swing.

Thursday Ladies Golf 5th October

Not so much wind today thank goodness, I think it must have scared a few people away, after having a lovely big field of 60 last week for our Open Day we only had 23 players this week, so it was a very quiet day .

We played a Single Stableford today results are: Winner Bev Culpitt with 38 pts , Runner up was Judy Mount with 36 pts.
Rundown went to 33pts .
Ntps : 2nd June McFadden and Bev Culpitt, 7th Desley Harrington andCoral Rasmussen. The Pro Pin was won by Pauline Ryan .

Next week we have another Single Stableford with a twist!! An Irish Single Stableford so you will play your normal Stableford and score it normally on your card, then the Irish bit comes in and your score stays the same for the first 6holes then the next 6 holes you multiply your stableford score by 2 and the last 6 multiply by 3. Remember to do your normal scoring on the card first if you don’t want to work out the Irish part it doesn’t matter, the computer program will work it out.

The week after on the 19 th October is our O B E Day . We now have 16 OBE’s , they are about to take over!!! Just as a matter of interest if you look at this weeks results we had 9 ladies comprised the winners and runnersup and 6 of them are OBE’s, which is a great effort!!

Cheers to all

Captain Liz

Thursday Ladies Golf 28th September Open Day

WHAT A DAY !!! We got off to a great start we had 60 players no last minute cancellations , morning tea provided , every group had someone to show the way to their starting spot, and away we went !! But the weather gods had other plans with thunder and lightening and rain !⛈️⛈️⚡️⛈️⛈️⛈️⚡️⛈️ when we were so close to finishing about half of the field soldiered on and the other half were sensible.

Our Open Day somehow was still a success despite the weather . Barry organised us a lovely lunch which everyone seemed to enjoy. We had plenty of prizes, NTPs long drives and raffles . A great effort from our committee and extra willing helpers who all worked together to make sure everything went smoothly, thankyou to everyone 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Winners today were Pauline Ryan and Dianne Hutchesson (Murwillumbah) with 72.5 . Runners up were Chris Mills and Sue Reguson ( Coolangatta/Tweed) 73.87 Second Runners up were Marilyn Berryman and Margaret Atwood (Coolangatta/Tweed) 74.37 there were 8 teams in the rundown . We had NTPs on the 2nd 7th and the 16 th all in two divisions with partners also given a ball. Long drives in two divisions and the Pro Pin also in two divisions. We also had several lucky draws for those players who didn’t finish.

Thanks to everyone for your help and participation. It was an eventful week , as we sadly had to say a final goodbye to our friend Dottie Gronn, the participation of so many golf members meant a lot to her family.

A nice simple single stableford coming up, then a pinehurst then our O BE day on the 19th of October.

Cheers to all Captain Liz

What a day!!! The concept …Ladies vs Gentlemen. How you ask??? Run a single Stableford, add all the single scores together and see which of the genders is the winning team.
I hear cries of its not fair…men are bigger hitters, ladies have bigger handicaps…..REMEMBER we are all handicapped the same and as such we are all EQUAL! What a great reminder heading into the MEDLEY games on a Sunday.

Ladies’ 1st Place – Katrina Springfield 37pts on a countback

NTP 2nd Hole Ladies 2nd shot – Glenda Ballard
NTP 7th Hole Men – Tony Blair
NTP 7th Hole Ladies 2nd shot – Alison Blair
NTP 16th Hole Men – Brian Springfield
NTP 16th Hole Ladies 2nd shot – Glenda Ballard

Thank you to all who donated a prize for our Tombola raffle, it was a long-drawn-out raffle, but we got there in the end. We had a couple of funny comps running while we were enjoying our grazing platters and waiting for the groups to come in. Our putting comp was WTA, 6 balls for a dollar and the person with the most points wins! Congrats to Keith and Ken on coming up with a draw, they decided to share the massive winnings. The next comp was “GUESS HOW MANY BALLS IN THE BUCKET!” it was a huge success and came down to the wire…Well done Judy Mount for guessing 10! and winning not only the 10 balls, new tees and a golf towel.

A fantastic day! See you next Sunday….it looks like another full field for our first Medley competition an Irish Stableford.

Cheers Katrina Springfield
