Thursday 5 th February News.

We are off to a good start for the year , sorry we can’t have fun games every week! There needs to be a balance so we play some games that you get handicapped on and some team games We need to have trophy donors to run team games and our numbers are not growing , we do have some new members and they are very welcome but we have also had a few who have retired. If you plan to be a trophy donor you would be very welcome see Judy for details.

Our Special Events start with our first Monthly Medal on 5th March. Kaye is collecting the annual fees for this . You need to have nominated and paid before the first game so Kaye can set up for her calculations.
The next Thursday coming out on our booking sheet is a 2 person Ambrose , if you want to book a group in for that please text Pat or Kaye by Tuesday morning. We are having a stroke round this month to get us warmed up for the Monthly Medals!!

This Thursday we hope to be able to discuss the options for a new club shirt.
The AGM is on the 21st March at 8 am followed by a shotgun start open to everyone. Be there so you can have your say about what you like and don’t like. Remember the Ladies Captains Position is open and waiting for nominations!

FEB MEDAL / Medal of Medals

Today we played the February monthly medal combined with the annual Medal of Medals Champion 2026. As always, a beautiful course was prepared for us and the pins in some well thought out but tricky spots. 86 Players in todays field, which included about 9 visitors from various clubs.

Today we had our first Monthly Medal Eagles nest challenge. We had 2 players scoring an eagle today. Cem Okan, chipping in on the par 5 8th hole. Michael Kemp on the 1st hole going, Driver, 5iron and then a 130m 9 iron and binned it, for eagle. Cem Okan takes home the sleeve of Prov’s – Sorry guys there could only be one winner in todays Eagles nest event. The winner was decided by a lucky draw. Sorry Michael, looking at the below results, you had a pretty good day out. Well played both players.

This year’s winner of the 2026 Men’s Medal of Medals Champion is Ken Mount (B Grade – 17 H/C). Ken had a slow start on the front nine with a 47 off the stick and then came good on the back nine with 1 birdie, 4 pars and 5 bogies to finish the back with a 38 off the stick and wining this years Medal of Medals with a gross 85 and a nett 68. Congratulations ken, another notch in your impression golfing resume.

Michael Kemp (8) delivered the round of the day with a superb net -5 (66) to claim the win, finishing ahead of Gavin Moore (12) on -1 (70). Garry Dowding also secured the Gross honours with a tidy 75.

Ken Mount (17) posted a strong -3 (68) to take the net title, edging out John Faust (14) on 71. Avnija Sulejmani (14) claimed the Gross prize with a 86.

Jarrod Wood (32) matched the best net score of the day with -3 (68) to win the division, while John McLoughlin (23) followed up in second with a +1 (72) Paul Quinlin secured the Gross honours with a 98.

Starting this Saturday the 7th of February, we will be running a new prize that runs once a month in the Men’s Monthly Medal competition.

Any player who gets an eagle on any of the 18 holes goes into the draw to win a sleeve of Pro V1’s (3 balls)

If there are multiple people who score an eagle on the day, they will go into a draw to win the sleeve of balls. If no one records an eagle on this monthly medal round, the prize will jackpot by 1 sleeve of Pro V’s each time until we have winner.

Apon completion of your round and if you have made an eagle please mark β€œEAGLE” on your card. The card must be signed by your marker.
