1st and 10th Tee Changes: A Decision for Safety

Twin Towns has made the decision to change the location of the 1st and 10th tees due to ongoing safety concerns involving golf balls striking nearby homes.

For some time, residents in these houses have faced the risk of golf balls being hit onto their properties. This has raised legitimate concerns about the safety of residents, visitors and the homes themselves.

The tee changes are intended to reduce the risk of golf balls being hit towards residential properties and create a safer environment for everyone.

While changes to the course may take some adjustment for golfers, safety must remain a priority. Twin Towns believes these changes are a necessary step to address the ongoing issue and help protect the surrounding homes and residents.

We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all members and golfers as these changes are introduced.

THE 1^ST & 10^TH HOLE WILL HAVE A TEMPORARY TEE BOX IN PLAY UNTIL THE NEW TEE BOX IS CONSTRUCTED. THE RED TEES WILL REMAIN A PAR 5

WHILE THE BLUE & WHITES WILL BE REDUCED TO A PAR 4

NEW COURSE RATINGS TO COMMENCE 22/9/2026

BLUE TEE – PAR 69 – SCRATCH RATING 68 – SLOPE 130

WHITE TEE – PAR 69 – SCRATCH RATING 67 – SLOPE 120

RED TEE – PAR 73 – SCRATCH RATING 73 – SLOPE 120

The Board have met to determine the playing and membership fees effective from 1 October and in doing so have also considered your email below.

We certainly understand that costs of living are a burden for most of the community at this time, and the cost of business increases are also significant, and that combined with government rules restricting our ability to support the golf course from ClubGrant funding, the cost burden of the golf course is significantly greater and as a result price increases must reflect the cost of business. Please note, that although prices will increase significantly again this year, the golf course continues to be a significant loss operation and is continuing to be supported by the Club with a significant subsidy.

The new golf fees, effective 1 October 2026, have been determined as follows:

LADIES GOLD MEDAL PLAYOFF & SINGLE STABLEFORD EVENT 10/9/26

Today we played our Gold Medal event for the winners of the Medals played during the year.

We also played a Single Stableford for the rest of the field and the weather was absolutely awful!! The wind howled from the south and everynow and then threw in some freezing rain just to make sure we didnt get too comfortable!
However the weather did suit the winners of the two events with wonderful scores returned,

The winner of the Gold Medal was Marilyn Berryman with a fantastic score of 66 !.. According to Marilyn it was her Husbands driver that made all the difference ! Wonder if he’s missed it out of his golf bag yet !
Winner of the Stableford was Myra Bigger who played exceptional golf to return a score of 39 points. The close runnerup was Louise Carpenter, a regular Sunday player who joined us today for a game .Louise also scored 39 points.

Rundown was shared between the two comps and went to the following ladies from the stroke round – Pat Hodda 71, June McFadden 76,; and from stableford event Diane Hughes 38 pts, Peggy Williams 33pts; Nancy Douglas 33 pts.

NTP 7th hole Div 1 – Alison Blair. Div 2 Myra Bigger.
PRO PIN $19 – Glenda Ballard.

Raffle Prizes – $20 June McFadden; Denise Melling $15;Christine Waghorn $10; Diane Hughes $10; Helen Evans $10.

Congratulations to all winners and well done to all who came and played today in the terrible weather. (I can understand why some of our ladies gave it a miss today!)

Next week is our annual Tombola day, we would appreciate items for the stall. Handicrafts, cooking, plants and odds and ends most acceptable.

A wonderful Spring day for the first round of the Championships , 53 starters with rundown nett 72pts all in.

A grade winner Ray Mills (6) 72 nett. R/U Dave Vonitzstein (7) 72 nett on c/b.

B grade winner Max Jessop (22) 67nett. R/U Owen McCallum (22) 70 nett on c/b Lindsay Smith.
